Yacht Harbour had previously reported that 114-meter Luna was seized in Dubai over her owner’s divorce proceedings in the UK. This decision is now being appealed by her owner in local courts with a view to soon have Luna freed.
A spokesperson for the owner has now told Yacht Harbour: “Claims that Luna will be available for [the owner’s wife] and debt collectors shortly to sell as a result of last week’s interim court ruling are pure fantasy. For that to happen would take years before the Dubai full legal processes are exhausted.”

“Last week’s hearing, presided over by a single judge, did not consider the legal arguments in any detail. These matters will only be heard in full when the proceedings come before senior appeal judges following our appeal which has been lodged.” the spokesperson for Mr Akhmedov continued.
“We never expected any other outcome at this stage and remain confident that Luna will be free to leave Dubai once the judges have heard the full facts of the matter.”
“Mr Akhmedov anticipates that Russian courts will be ruling within the next month on the validity of the original 2000 divorce between Mr Akhmedov and his ex-wife Tatiana. It is that divorce, which fundamentally underlined the misguided decisions of the English high court in awarding her a second divorce payout in 2016 and of the DIFC court to seize Luna”. he added.
One of the world’s highest profile explorers, Luna was built in 2010 by Lloyd and underwent a large refit after her acquisition by her current owner. Amongst her most notable features is a large swimming pool aft of her main deck.
